Hi,

I see some pepper mixes such as the habanero and bell peppers. Are the seed in these mixes separated in any way to know the difference? Or just all mixed together?

Thanks
Replied on: 3:44pm 12-05-2018

Hi Brett, They are pre-mixed by me of varieties we sell. There's no way to tell which seed belongs to what. I try to have even amounts and mix well so there's a good mix when starting the seeds.

Hi Remy, love your site! Down here in MS, with the heat and humidity, and my rootknot nematode infestation, growing heirlooms is a challenge. I have seen several varieties that look promising; do you have any suggestions?
Replied on: 3:23pm 11-22-2018

Hi Jon,I wish I had a list of varieties to try, but I don't. I unfortunately do not know a lot about them as they are not a problem here.
I'm sure some are naturally resistant, but I don't know which ones.
I do have friends down there that grow in large containers to bypass them.

Rent I was wondering if you are going to offer Arbuznyi next year? I noticed it wasn’t listed It is my favorite! If not any recommendations that are similar?
Replied on: 8:54am 11-11-2018

Hi Patrick, sorry, I did not grow that one this year. I will have to next year. If you like the darker tomatoes, JD's Special C-Tex is a really good one. I grew a couple great pinkss this year too, Polish (Earl's) and Kentucky Pink Stamper.

Hi,

Good to know. Interested in the reapers too (and any other superhots you may have). Do you know around when the seed will be available? Don't want to miss out.

Thanks,
Brett

The update day for most of the veggies is Nov. 15th, but the peppers can sometimes take a little longer that that as they are often the last to ripen, get harvested, and have the seeds dried. So more like Dec. 1st for them.

Thanks,

Hi,
I am so glad to find your website! I especially love the information for northern gardeners and the personal, warm atmosphere of the website.
Could you please let me know when the fresh seeds packed for 2019 would be available? Thank you!

The variety called Polish that your friend Craig tells of in his book
The Purple Dog Creek gift pack seeds are doing well and has set some fruit. Your gift of these seeds is really appreciated. Thanks a bunch. I grew some plants from seed last year and they were supposed to be the variety Polish that Craig speaks of in his book. Not sure they were the real deal. Don't remember where they came from. I see there are several varieties called Polish, including the Polish C variety Carolyn has in her book. I'd like to get the one Craig speaks of. Perhaps you can offer it next year. One of these years I'll drive up to Buffalo and take in your tomatofest.

Hi Dan, I am growing Polish (Earl's) this year again, and it is suppose to be the real deal. Someone added Earl's name as he was the source, but he got his seeds from Heirloom Seeds in PA years ago.
Glad PDC is doing well for you. I really like that one a lot. And you are always welcome to come to the tomatofest!

......
Ladies/Sirs: I was ordering a "sample disk pack" of herb seed from Johnny's Select Seeds, until I saw they were charging $6.75 shipping for a few disks of seed, rather than mailing in a regular envelope @ first class rates. Perchance do you have a similar sampler which you can mail in an envelope. It will make a lot more sense. Thanks a lot.

Hi Everett,
I'm sorry, we don't have anything like that. We have packets of herbs most of which run over 100 seeds per packet and most of them are $1.00 a packet.
We send orders in Bubble Envelopes because seeds get crushed in regular envelopes. It does cost more, but the seeds are safe that way. Yes, if someone bought a packet of very tiny seed, they could go with some padding in an envelope, but that is cost and time prohibitive when processing tons of orders. Most people buy a variety of items to make it worth the shipping cost.

Remy---Tomato seeds sown today (4-2-18). Wanted to thank you for the Bonus seeds of Purple Dog Creek you sent with my order. Looking forward to trying this new to me variety. I will have six varieties in grow bags this year. First year for "standard varieties" in grow bags. Previously only grew Dwarf varieties in grow bags.

Best regards,
