I can't load the perennial page any more. I used to have the problem with the annual page until you split them up. Please split the perennial page also. I would love to place another other. My first order arrived quickly, great germination and great prices. WS time is almost here and you can never have enough seeds.

I received my order last week and DH was home, so I tossed the packets aside for later...he thinks I have "enough" seeds... Today, I spotted them and OMG - you have outdone yourself again! I planted 16' of Nia-wanda Park garlic seed!! Even if half of those become rounds, I'll be ecstatic! And the tomato seeds - awesome! Happy Gardening!

Love the size and price of seeds being offered. I would love to get Acanthus Mollis. Wish that was being offered.
Replied on: 9:50am 11-19-2011

Hi Rose,
Thanks for the suggestions. I do not have Acanthus mollis because I do not grow it. It is a tad too cold here. Also even at the wholesale level, it is very expensive seed. A 10 seed packet would cost like $3.50 for me to be able to carry it. So I hesitate to purchase such expensive seed.

Hi Remy. A comment and a request. First about the difficulty getting cucuzzi to pollinate. That edible gourd is a night bloomer. You need moths to pollinate it.
Now I hope you or someone can help me. Years ago I grew a squash that was about three feet long but very slender. At maturity it was a tan color with smooth skin. It was the sweetest squash I ever tasted; almost like a sweet potato. The vine was huge and covered an entire hillside. I only remember it as a Hawaian squash. I think I got the seed from one of the old line companies that sold out to the biggies who dropped a lot of the old line seeds. Can you help me identify it from this small amount of info?

Hi Billy,
Thanks for posting. And thanks for solving my cucuzzi problem! Though hand pollinating did work great
The only squash that I know of that fits your description looks wise is Tromboncino. I have a pic of an immature fruit on the site so it is still green, but they do turn tan when mature. Here's a link to the pic http://seedsample.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/tromb.jpg Flavor wise I can't comment sine that is one I have not tasted. Other than that I do not know. Maybe someone will see this and comment.

This is such a great site! Even while we're going from Fall into Winter as I type this, Spring will be here before we know it. Since we work together it will be easy to talk with you about gardening and what to grow in the spring and when to start assorted seeds .. cant' wait! Thanks for this!

What a great idea! I have a small garden and usually end up wasting half of a $3 packet of seeds. I've tried seeds from WalMart, etc., but they're usually pretty poor.

Winter herbs grown in the kitchen...what do you recommend?

Herbs & vegetables, both common & unusualy

Hello~ We're interested in growing herbs & a few vegetables in the kitchen this winter. What do you recommend, & what containers should we use?
What a neat website... NAMASTE, S.Dowling
Replied on: 11:49pm 10-17-2011

Hi Sunny,
The biggest thing I find to having good herbs, etc. over the winter is light. If you have good light, you'll be ok. If you don't have a greenhouse window or a bay window, find the best window on the south side of you home preferably. Hopefully the kitchen is on the south side and not on the north side like mine is.
Any pots you want to use will work. I would say at least 8" deep is best. They don't need to be wide, just not too shallow.
Water well and let dry out between watering. Most people kill their herbs with kindness. You do not want excess water in the soil. Herbs naturally grow in lean well draining soil.
Variety doesn't matter. Whatever herbs you want to grow, grow!
Hope this helps,
Remy
