A yellow or orange currant tomato if they exist
I see the orange currants in stores and wonder if they are open-pollinated?  Also, is Sun Cherry open-pollinated?  I ordered 10 packets from you and all are growing gangbusters.   Can't wait to taste some of these tomatoes that are new to me.

Hi Roberta,
Glad to hear they are growing like gangbusters! I hope you have a great harvest.
Yellow and Orange Currants are Open Pollinated. I'll see what I can do for for Fall. If a wholesaler has them I'll grab a few.
Sun Cherry is a hybrid. I probably won't carry that. Most of the tomato hybrids are pretty pricy so I'm trying to keep them to a minimum.
Thanks for your input,
Remy

bought seeds of Camissonia cheirnthifolia, caprarie biflora, borrichia frutesencens. (bonus)  for sand.  How do I plant?
Replied on: 7:04pm 06-12-2011

Hi Marilyn,
They are all warm climate perennials so they do not need cold stratification. Being seaside plants, they must be kept moist. I would recommend pots in part shade that you can easily keep an eye on or inside if you have a spot. The seeds should of the Cammisonia and Borrichia should barely be covered. The Capraria seed which is very tiny should be surface sowed as all plants with tiny seeds should be. That is a rule of thumb with sowing seeds the tinier the seed the closer to the surface they should be : )
Hope this helps,
Remy

Hi Remy,
Thanks for the 2 day mail delivery during a postal strike (in Canada)!!!  I was a bit worried, but the seeds came faster than expected.  I only needed some tomatillo seeds (only had one plant and didn't realize I needed 2 to fertilize) but couldn't resist some of the tomatoes! Really late to start them now... & no place to grow them... going to do one of each anyway  (:
Thanks again,
Nicky

Remy, Just wanted to pop over and say hi!  Curiosity makes me ask if you've ever played around in the local Plantcycle.org groups.  We have one in the Cortland area (7ValleyPlantcycle.com) that is having a plant Swap in Ithaca, NY on 06/12/11  Glad to meet the local competition...lol.

Hi Dave,
Nice to meet you. No, there is no plant cycle group here. We do have a plant swap in Hamlin every year. It started from a group of WNY GardenWeb gardeners. The yearly attendees have become good friends. Link in case anyone is interested for this year or coming years ~ http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/upstateny/msg0409140029774.html?26
Hope you are enjoying this great weather we finally having!

Purple Dog Creek & Purple Haze tomatoes
I saw these two varieties on your master seed list... but didn't find any available to order. Are they? Available to order I mean... Please email me and thank you. Nancy

Hi Nancy,
Purple Haze is a hybrid and is only available a plant from a few select sources. I have F2 saved seeds that someone sent me. So they will not be for sale.
Purple Dog Creek may be available in the future. It will not be available this year.
Sorry I could not help you with them,
Remy

Tomatoes and bell peppers

Anything you would like to see on our site?(specific variety, more of something in general)

a few more bell peppers & a few more black, orange tomatoes
Very glad you offer seeds to try at a reasonable price.  Wish shipping was lower, comparable with some other sites I use (ie: Sand Hill Preservation). Most of my orders could be mailed for price of a stamp or two. But still like your site!
Replied on: 12:10pm 05-03-2011

Hi Sam,
I'm glad you like the site!
I do charge more for shipping than Sand Hill(a place that I love), and it might not seem cost effective for small orders, but they charge more for packets of seeds. So if you do a side by side comparison, you still can get a better deal here. For example, Tomatoes.
Tomatoes at Sand Hill cost between $1.25-$3.00 a packet. Here they are a $1.00. So lets say you buy 5 packets at Sand Hill and average $1.75 a packet which would be $8.50 total. They charge $2.00 for orders under $10.00. so the total with shipping is $10.75.If you stuck to cheaper tomatoes there and averaged $1.50 a packet for 5, it would be $9.50 total.
Here 5 packets are $5.00 with $3.50 shipping(postal rates just went up) so the total would be $8.50.
If you bought 10 packets of seeds at Sand Hill the cost would be $17.50 with no shipping charge. Here the cost would be $10 and $3.50 shipping for a total of $13.50.
Now some might say that you only get 15 seeds with my packets and everyone who orders knows that I average about 25 seeds per packet so it is still a good comparable deal.
Most all other places are higher in the cost of packets and/or shipping.
I also have to add that on a small order with a few packets of tomatoes it may seem like I am making a lot on postage, but any order with beans and/or more packets of seeds is comping closer to me breaking even on shipping and I've even had a few where I lost money. The cost of bubble envelopes shipping labels and paper must also taken into consideration.
